ABOUT SEIEPA
Who We Are
The Southeast Idaho Energy and Property Alliance (SEIEPA) brings together Idahoans who love this land. Some of us have worked the same ground for generations. Others are raising families here, or running local businesses. What unites us is a belief that landowners deserve the right to make decisions about how their land is used to benefit their families and our communities. We believe Southeast Idaho deserves fact-based, well informed decision making—and the choice to benefit from responsibly sited and developed clean energy.
OUR VISION
We’re working to ensure Southeast Idaho landowners retain the freedom to choose how they use their land––creating reliable, long-term revenue from new energy projects, like utility-scale solar, that will bring local jobs and economic benefits while protecting our rural values and family farms for future generations.
OUR MISSION
The Southeast Idaho Energy and Property Alliance (SEIEPA) gives voice to the many Idahoans who support clean energy development rooted in property rights, economic opportunity, and land stewardship. Our mission is to educate, organize, and advocate for smart solar policies that reflect our values and benefit our region. We work to ensure county leaders and decision-makers hear directly from local residents who know clean energy development is a win-win for Southeast Idaho, and a critical need to add more readily available power to our grid.

"Our family has been farming and ranching here in Robin since 1897, and Armstrong-Zita Ranch was recognized with a Century Farm Award in 2024.
We installed 12 kW of solar photovoltaics on our ranch, and now we have zero power bills. Installation created high-paying local jobs. Livestock like to graze under pole-mounted solar PV, where the grass stays greener. Animals can shelter under the panels, and our systems stand up to 90 mph winds from the Garden Creek Gap. Solar power is good for Idaho's economics and environment. Every Idaho farm and family should have the freedom to install solar power like we did.
Bannock County Commissioners should pass a solar ordinance that restores the freedoms of citizens and communities to improve our land, and gives our county the opportunity to grow responsibly."

"Bannock County has the opportunity to control the narrative and move forward to protect our way of life with clean energy. Implementing a smart solar ordinance that embraces inexpensive clean solar energy, respects landowner rights, and reaps local economic benefits for the school district, the local tax base, and preserves the land for future generations.
Following the useful life of a utility-scale solar farm, the structures can be removed and the land restored to its original state. Other forms of utility-scale power generation leave the land permanently altered and likely scarred as a superfund site for generations to come."

"As a private landowner, I believe we should have the right to utilize our property in ways that bring value to our families and our community, so long as it doesn’t harm others’ health or safety.
For example, the area where my family and I own land is often referred to by the community as the ‘poverty flats,’ as it has always presented challenges for productive farming. That’s why responsible solar projects can offer a practical way to create economic value while maintaining respect for the land and those who live around it."
